Our 150+ megawatt (MW) data centre, AirTrunk JHB1 will soon open in Johor Bahru, Malaysia to enable the cloud and artificial intelligence in the region.
To deliver this critical digital infrastructure, reliable power at scale and speed is essential. That’s why we’ve been working closely with Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) to leverage their One-Stop-Centre (OSC) under the Green Lane Pathway initiative.
AirTrunk’s head of energy and climate, Joscha Schmitz, said, “TNB recognised the potential of hyperscale data centres as an early opportunity and proactively invested in building capabilities to serve data centre customers.”
The two companies share a vision for advancing the energy transition, which saw them sign an MOU in 2023 to drive action, including researching opportunities to develop technology roadmaps towards clean energy in Malaysia.
To help achieve our Net Zero 2030 target, AirTrunk also recently signed a Virtual Power Purchase Agreement (VPPA) with international renewable energy developer, ib vogt GmbH, the first data centre renewable energy VPPA under Malaysia’s Corporate Green Power Programme (CGPP).
