AirTrunk is developing the next generation of Australian technical talent with a new apprenticeship program.
The program commenced in May 2024 with 30 mechanical and electrical apprentices across our Australian data centre platform. Upon completion of the four-year program, each apprentice will achieve formal industry qualifications through TAFE in their respective discipline.
Each apprentice has a mentor, and their training is supplemented through the industry-focused DCD>Academy (APAC) Data Centre Professional Training Program.
Matthew Ward, AirTrunk’s Associate Vice President, Operations Advancement said: “The AirTrunk Apprenticeship Program is driven by our desire to foster technical education pathways, job creation, diversity and talent development, whilst ensuring we are able to support the rapid growth required as we deliver and operate infrastructure that is essential to enable the digital economy.”
Throughout the apprenticeship program, apprentices will gain valuable knowledge of the entire lifecycle of our data centres, from design and construction, all the way through to operations and asset renewal, providing them with a fantastic understanding, not only of their chosen trade, but also the pivotal role data centre technicians play in Australia’s digital future.”
