{"id":12725,"date":"2023-12-19T07:34:48","date_gmt":"2023-12-18T20:34:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dev1.webat.dev\/?p=12725"},"modified":"2024-12-19T15:26:01","modified_gmt":"2024-12-19T04:26:01","slug":"google-airtrunk-and-ox2-to-add-renewable-energy-capacity-in-australia","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/airtrunk.com\/zh-hans\/google-airtrunk-and-ox2-to-add-renewable-energy-capacity-in-australia\/","title":{"rendered":"Google, AirTrunk and OX2 to add Renewable Energy Capacity in Australia"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Sydney, Tuesday 19 December, 2023 &#8211; <\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/about.google\/\">Google<\/a><strong>, <\/strong>hyperscale data centre specialist <a href=\"https:\/\/airtrunk.com\/\">AirTrunk<\/a>, and global renewable energy provider <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ox2.com\/\">OX2<\/a> today announced a long-term Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) and the development of a new solar farm expected to add 25 megawatts (MW) of new renewable energy generation capacity into Australia\u2019s energy grid.<\/p>\n<p>Under the agreement, OX2 will develop a new solar farm in the Riverina district of New South Wales \u2013 helping to advance Google\u2019s ambitious <a href=\"https:\/\/sustainability.google\/\">2030 goal<\/a> to run on 24\/7 carbon-free energy on every grid where they operate.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIndustry collaboration and innovation are crucial to achieving our ambitious sustainability objectives, including our efforts to drive a substantial increase in carbon-free energy capacity across the Asia Pacific region,\u201d said Mel Silva, Managing Director, Google Australia. \u201cAs part of our broader <a href=\"https:\/\/blog.google\/intl\/en-au\/company-news\/outreach-initiatives\/digital-future-initiative\/\">Digital Future Initiative<\/a>, this project will see us support local infrastructure to tackle big challenges like climate change while also further solidifying the foundations of a growth-centric yet sustainable digital economy.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Under the innovative agreement structure, AirTrunk will procure the renewable energy generated by OX2\u2019s solar farm and associated energy attribute certificates with time-matching to Google\u2019s consumption. The solar farm is expected to begin generating power in 2025.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;As a leader in hyperscale data centres in Asia-Pacific &amp; Japan, AirTrunk is committed to accelerating the <a href=\"https:\/\/airtrunk.com\/sustainability\/sustainability-reports\/\">energy transition<\/a> to achieve <a href=\"https:\/\/airtrunk.com\/sustainability\/net-zero-commitment\/\">Net Zero by 2030<\/a>,\u201d said Damien Spillane, AirTrunk Chief Customer and Innovation Officer. \u201cOur collaboration with Google and OX2 will deliver new renewable energy capacity into the grid on the east coast of Australia.
