Fresh from the opening of AirTrunk’s first data centre in Johor, Malaysia (JHB1), I’m pleased to announce we’re commencing construction of the remaining phases of the JHB1 campus.
Over the next 18 months, we’ll deliver another 100MW capacity, with the initial tranche delivered by mid-2025 to support the growth of our cloud and AI customers.
At over 150MW total campus capacity, JHB1 is the home of one of the largest deployments of direct-to-chip liquid cooling technologies in the world, reducing energy consumption by up to 23%. Coupled with an industry-low design PUE of 1.15, JHB1 stands as one of the most efficient data centres in the country.
This 100MW expansion will provide over A$1 billion of direct investment into Johor over the next 18 months and will create more than 2,500 jobs during construction and a significant number of new highly skilled technical and operational jobs for local Malaysians.
JHB1 is a great example of strong ties between the Australian and Malaysian governments, and our commitment to deeper ties with the South-East Asian region.
We recognise that it is a privilege to be in Johor and Malaysia, and we look forward to contributing to the community and continuing to innovate to set high sustainability standards in terms of energy, water and carbon usage for our sector in conjunction with local, state and federal government.
An exciting time for AirTrunk, and AirTrunkers. AI comes to Johor!
