The COVID-19 outbreak has seen numerous acts of kindness, including one generous business helping the Western Sydney community by donating specialised equipment to Blacktown Hospital.
AirTrunk, a local data centre operator, has donated a decontamination machine which can sterilise a ward in just two hours – a process that would normally take two staff members at least six hours.
When the technology is placed in a room, it releases a low concentration of vaporised hydrogen peroxide which travels around the room safely and effectively to clean the area.
Better Foundation chief executive Nermeen Yacoub said the donation will help in the fight against COVID-19 reduce surface contamination.
“General services staff at the hospital have increased the frequency of cleaning high-contact touch points and this machine add to these efforts,” Nermeen said.
“This donation will help our general services and infection control teams provide even more safety for our patients, staff and visitors – we are very grateful.”
AirTrunk founder and chief executive officer Robin Khuda said he also called on their partners to donate to Blacktown Hospital. Their call out resulted in four further generous donations to the hospital from AW Edwards, Built, PMT Security Systems and Schneider Electric.
“We hope that our donation to Blacktown Hospital, and that of our partners, assists the hospital staff so that they can continue the important work they’re doing to support our local community,” Robin said.
