ASEAN-Australia Special Summit

AirTrunk’s Founder & CEO Robin Khuda was honoured to meet Malaysian Prime Minister, The Honourable Anwar Ibrahim, as part of the ASEAN-Australia Special Summit in Melbourne this week.

The meeting follows AirTrunk and ib vogt GmbH signing Malaysia’s first renewable virtual PPA for a data centre, under Malaysia’s Corporate Green Power Programme and provided an opportunity to discuss the alignment with AirTrunk’s Net Zero 2030 target and Malaysia’s National Energy Transition Roadmap.

Talks also centred on the role of sustainable hyperscale data centres in empowering the local talents of the Malaysian people and further facilitating the investment of global tech companies as the foundation for cloud services, AI and growing the digital economy in Malaysia.

In January 2023, AirTrunk announced its entry into Malaysia with plans to develop the 150+ MW data centre JHB1. Set to officially open in mid-2024, JHB1 was financed under AirTrunk’s sustainability linked loan framework and incorporates the first direct-to-chip liquid cooling technology to be deployed alongside a traditional indirect evaporative cooling (IEC) design.
