Inaugural AirTrunk STEM Scholarships awarded at one of Japan’s top science and tech universities, Tokyo Institute of Technology
Asia-Pacific and Japan (APJ) hyperscale data centre specialist, AirTrunk and Tokyo Institute of Technology have awarded the inaugural AirTrunk Scholarships for academic year 2024. The scholarship was created for female students studying STEM at Tokyo Institute of Technology.
The recipients of the AirTrunk Scholarship, selected by the Tokyo Institute of Technology, were Ms. Momoko Hashiguchi and Ms. Kanon Hibi. The students were each awarded a full Masters STEM scholarship at a ceremony in Tokyo, presented by Kazuya Masu, President of Tokyo Tech.
Ms. Momoko Hashiguchi said, “My efforts and achievements were highly evaluated. I am proud that my efforts and achievements have been recognised. Being selected along with other like-minded, talented students gives me the opportunity to reconfirm my abilities and potential. This scholarship will motivate me to continue to grow and encourage me to tackle new challenges with confidence.”
Ms. Kanon Hibi said, “This scholarship is a significant encouragement for me, and an important step in building my future career. With this support, I can devote more time and energy to my research activities, deepening my knowledge and skills in sustainable architectural design.”
Tokyo Institute of Technology, Vice President Shigeru Hioki said, “The Tokyo Institute of Technology is a world-class institution. As a leading national science and engineering university in Japan with an unparalleled research and educational environment, Tokyo Tech’s mission is to develop leaders with a sense of purpose who can contribute to solving international problems to build a better society.

In this effort, we are pleased to work with AirTrunk to expand scholarship opportunities for female students pursuing STEM related fields and are pleased that the first scholarship recipients have been selected.”

AirTrunk’s social impact program is designed to create long-term, meaningful change in the APJ region. The program supports initiatives and strategic partnerships in four key areas; STEM education, digital equity, biodiversity and conservation and sustainable innovation.

AirTrunk、東京工業大学の女子学生対象の奨学金を設立、授与式に出席
日本のSTEM教育へさらなる貢献へ

日本を含むアジア太平洋（APJ）地域のハイパースケールデータセンタースペシャリストであるAirTrunkは、2024年5月、東京工業大学の女子学生を対象とした「AirTrunk奨学金」を設立しました。同奨学金は、2011年に創設された「東京工業大学基金」を通じて提供されます。
7月25日、AirTrunk Japan代表が、同大学で開催された奨学金の授与式に出席、日本のSTEM教育分野にて、女性を対象とした新たな機会が拡大されるのを共に喜びました。
「AirTrunk奨学金」の初の奨学生として、今年度、東京工業大学の橋口百々子さんと、日比奏音さんの二人が選ばれました。
橋口百々子さんは、次のように述べています。
「同じ志を持つ他の優秀な学生たちと共に選ばれたことで、自分の能力や可能性を再確認する機会となりました。この奨学金は、今後も成長し続けるためのモチベーションとなり、自信を持って新たな挑戦に取り組むための後押しとなります」
日比奏音さんは次のように述べています。
「この奨学金は、私にとって大きな励みであり、将来のキャリアを築くための重要な一歩であると考えております。この支援により、研究活動により多くの時間とエネルギーを費やすことができ、持続可能な建築設計に向けた知識とスキルをさらに深めることができると考えております」
東京工業大学 日置 滋 副学長（社会連携担当）は、次のように述べています。
「東京工業大学は、世界レベルの研究および教育環境を持つ日本を代表する国立の理工系総合大学として、よりよい社会の構築を目指し国際問題の解決に寄与できる目的意識を持ったリーダー的人材の育成を使命としています。当大学は、STEM教育におけるダイバーシティ・エクイティ&インクルージョンの推進、特に将来のSTEM専門家となる女子学生の人数を増やすことを目指しています。この取り組みにおいて、AirTrunkと協力し、STEM分野を目指す女子学生への奨学金の機会が拡大でき、初の奨学生が選ばれたことを喜ばしく思います」
