AirTrunk wins 2023 Renewable Energy Markets (REM)™ Asia Award

AirTrunk has won a 2023 Renewable Energy Markets (REM)™ Asia Award, recognising organisations that are driving clean energy adoption in Asia.

AirTrunk was awarded, alongside CLP and Microsoft, for a solution that matches Microsoft’s data centre electricity consumption at the AirTrunk HKG1 data centre with local renewable energy certificates (RECs).

The solution set several industry benchmarks including being:

The first in the APJ region to feature hourly matching of renewable generation to data centre electricity consumption;
The first RECs solution linked to an identifiable renewable energy project in Hong Kong; and
The biggest RECs agreement for a data centre since the launch of the CLP RECs programme in 2019.

“The winners of this year’s awards are leaders in promoting clean energy development and adoption throughout Asia,” said @Jennifer Martin, executive director of Center for Resource Solutions. “Through their actions, they are helping to accelerate the transition away from fossil fuels and towards clean, renewable sources of energy in the region. We are pleased today to be able to honor their determination, innovation, and vision over the past year, and look forward to seeing the results of their hard work over the years to come.”

Congratulations to all involved!
